Senior spotlight! 🐾 Olivia and Carmen recently led a heartfelt donation effort for the Angel Tree program, raising more than $1,000 in monetary contributions and collecting an additional $1,000 worth of toys, clothing, and other requested items. With the generous support of students, staff, and community members, the girls spent time thoughtfully shopping for the Angel Tree wishes and donated all items to Goochland Elementary School and Byrd Elementary School. Their fundraising took place during school lunches, where they offered baked goods as a thank-you to anyone who contributed. Olivia and Carmen are deeply grateful to Mrs. Lawson for sponsoring their project, and for the kindness and support shown by everyone who helped make their project a success! #ToGether #GoBulldogs

👏 Meet GHS senior Kyranna Stratiou, whose senior project is making a real impact in our community. Inspired by her mom’s cancer journey, Kyranna dedicated her year to raising awareness about screenings, genetic testing, and early detection. She set up outreach tables, shared resources with students, and helped spread the word at school events.
Her efforts raised over $1,400 for The Hawthorne Cancer Foundation and Pink Chair Project RVA, supporting patients with essential needs like gas cards, comfort items, and recovery support. 💗
We are so proud of you, Kyranna—thank you for turning compassion into action!

Due to the forecast for winter weather, Goochland County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, December 8th. Current predictions indicate snowfall beginning in the early morning and continuing throughout the day, with the possibility of 1–2 inches or more, accompanied by temperatures that are expected to remain below freezing. These conditions may create hazardous travel for buses and drivers, and the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.
All after-school and evening activities are also canceled. We encourage families to stay safe and warm and enjoy the snow day ahead. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Due to the threat of inclement weather, including a forecast of 1–3 inches of snow in the morning along with freezing temperatures, we have made the decision to close schools tomorrow. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and current weather predictions indicate potentially hazardous travel conditions during arrival hours.
All school-related activities, including after-school programs, will also be cancelled for Friday. At this time, Saturday events and activities will continue as scheduled. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and communicate promptly if additional cancellations or adjustments become necessary. We encourage families to stay safe, use caution if traveling, and enjoy the day at home.

📊🛒 Budgeting for Thanksgiving Dinner!
This week, students in Economics & Personal Finance and Entrepreneurship took on a real-world challenge: planning a full Thanksgiving meal on a budget.
Teams compared grocery ads, used coupons, tracked costs in spreadsheets, and presented their strategies for making smart financial decisions.
This hands-on project helped students build practical skills in budgeting, collaboration, and problem-solving. Proud of their hard work—and grateful to Ms. Boehm, Ms. Dewey, and Mrs. EYP for bringing this engaging lesson to life! 🦃👏

Today, Ms. Reahard's Dual Enrollment Psychology class discussed the Rorschach Inkblot Test as one of the most famous psychological projective tests in the world. They had opportunities to analyze different inkblots, then they created their own and analyzed each others'! #GoBulldogs #ToGether

Senior spotlight! 🐾 Kyranna's senior project was a great success! By organizing outreach tables, Pink Out volleyball games, and student events during lunch and football games, Kyranna raised $1,402 for the Hawthorne Cancer Foundation and Pink Chair Project RVA - two programs that support patients with cancer in the greater Richmond area. Kyranna was inspired by her mom's diagnoses earlier this year, and used that inspiration to make an impact! She was able to present her donation check to the Hawthorne Foundation in person, and even got to speak in front of their board about her project. Keep doing great things, Kyranna. #GoBulldogs #ToGether

Students in Ms. EYP's Economics & Personal Finance and Entrepreneurship classes had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Boehm and Mrs. Dewey to shop for Thanksgiving meals based on family scenarios and budgets! 🦃 They used Google Sheets to track their spending, including money spent on gas and sales tax. Coupons and opportunities for families to shop at the local food bank if they qualified for assistance were delivered via the newspaper mid-class! Students presented their final budget sheets, along with glows and grows about their team and the project as a whole. Go, Bulldogs! #ToGether

From empires to folktales ✍🏼 Students in Mrs. Jacobsen and Mrs. Mistler's Humanities 9 class used their understanding of historic civilizations and empires to write scripts, which they acted out, recorded, and edited into videos to share in class! We loved seeing this cross-curricular group activity in action, and it's safe to say the students had fun, too! Great job, team! #GoBulldogs #ToGether

Mr. Allen's Intro to Animal Systems students teamed up with Chef Erlenbach's Culinary I students to compare grass-fed vs. grain-fed beef. A sorting activity, live demonstration, student assistants, and steak tasting made this collaborative lesson one to remember! And that Wagyu wasn't bad, either... Thanks, Chef and Mr. Allen! #ToGether

Hello, GHS families!
Today, your student(s) took part in their first of three lessons from Common Sense Education. These lessons help students understand how to use technology safely and responsibly as they start and finish their high school careers. To view a conversation starter about today's lesson topic, click here for English or here for Spanish!
We hope you will continue this meaningful conversation at home, and look forward to continuing it here at GHS in the coming months.
Thank you!
