Pumpkin decorating is in full swing! Our classes are working hard (and having lots of fun!) getting their pumpkins ready for the big contest. Stay tuned to see their amazing creations!

We loved having Mrs. Fletcher back at Byrd as a guest reader! A beloved former teacher, Mrs. Fletcher continues to light up our hallways with her warmth and joy. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!

Mrs. Creasey's kindergarten class read the book We Are In A Book! (Elephant and Piggie). Then each student created a page about themselves and we "walked" our book to encore to read it to Mrs. Boisseau. The students loved being inside of their own book!

Mr. Kempf brought the Chick Fil A Leadership Academy from the high school to Byrd to read with our kids on our special reading day! Our eagles got to spend time with positive reading role models AND they got to take home a free book!

If anyone can turn Halloween week into a week of reading fun, its the community of Byrd Elementary School! We are looking forward to a great week!

Happy World Occupational Therapy Day!! We’re so thankful for our amazing Occupational Therapist, Dr. Newlon, who helps our students build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to thrive every day!

🏅 Randolph Elementary has been named to the Excellence Honor Roll by the Virginia Department of Education — recognized as a national exemplar for providing high-quality preschool experiences that help our youngest learners thrive.
📈 Byrd Elementary earned a spot on the Improvement Honor Roll, recognizing their ongoing growth and commitment to ensuring that every child builds a strong foundation for future success.
These recognitions highlight the incredible work of our teachers, staff, and leaders who are dedicated to giving Goochland’s youngest students the very best start.

Tomorrow is Unity Day! On this date, we all wear orange together to symbolize we are united against bullying and promote kindness and inclusion as a school community.

At our October 14 School Board meeting, we had the pleasure of recognizing outstanding GCPS students, staff, and community members who exemplify our five core values — Excellence, Courage, Creativity, Honor, and Optimism (ECCHO).

This fall, more than 50 nominations were submitted by staff for individuals who make a difference in our schools every day. From those nominations, 10 ECCHO Award winners were selected and celebrated for living out these values in all they do.

🍴 Dawg Treats is Back! 🍴

Goochland High students Alexis Phillips and Addison Bryce are sharing their love of food—and culture—through Dawg Treats, a student-led culinary project! From calzones and beef tacos to tres leches cake, they’re bringing international flavors to our home football games.

Proceeds support Goochland’s culinary program, funding student field trips and hands-on learning opportunities. You can find the retrofitted food bus near the flagpole from gate opening until the end of the third quarter. Cash and credit accepted!

Come out, grab a bite, and taste the world with Dawg Treats! 🌟
