Today’s appreciation goes to the wonderful world of Kindergarten and Pre-K!
You are the very first face of Byrd Elementary for our families. Thank you for the hugs, the songs, the messy art projects, and for creating a safe, loving place for our littlest birds to land! 🐣🌈

Happy Wednesday! Today we honor our fantastic 2nd Grade and 1st Grade teachers.
Thank you for building strong foundations, nurturing a love of learning, and supporting our students every step of the way. You nurture our young learners with such heart, and we appreciate you! ❤️📖

Day 2 shoutout to our amazing 3rd & 4th Grade teams! From multiplication to Virginia history, you make learning fun and engaging. Thank you for making these years so special! 🍎💡

Last week, we gathered for our New Teacher Awards Reception and Mentor Social. At GCPS, we believe that when our teachers are supported, our students thrive. Through our mentorship program, we pair our newest educators with experienced mentors who offer guidance, encouragement, and a friendly face in the hallway.
We are so proud to honor the incredible impact these new teachers are already making in our classrooms and our community. Congratulations to our award winners, and a huge thank you to the mentors who help make GCPS feel like home! 🍎❤️

Today we are celebrating our incredible 5th Grade Teachers and our dedicated SPED Team!
Our 5th-grade crew is busy preparing our oldest students for their next big chapter, while our SPED team works tirelessly to ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed. Thank you for your patience, your expertise, and your unwavering belief in our students! 🦅✨

We love seeing our community grow their "math muscles" together. You all proved that at Byrd Elementary, math isn't just a subject—it’s an adventure!

Our students spent the day rotating through hands-on sessions with local professionals, learning about:
🚑 Emergency Medical Services & Firefighting
🩺 School Nursing & Orthodontics
🐾 Veterinary Science
⚖️ Law Enforcement
...and so much more!
We love seeing our community come together to inspire our Eagles. The future of Goochland is looking very bright! 🌟

Goochland’s young readers have a new mystery to solve! 🕵️♂️📖
A huge thank you to the Goochland Rotary for their annual book donation to every fourth-grade student in Goochland County Public Schools.
This year’s selection—Escape from Monticello by local author Steven K. Smith—was chosen in collaboration between Goochland Rotary, Goochland Historical Society’s 250 American Revolution Commission, and GCPS school librarians. The story follows three kids solving a mystery while learning about Thomas Jefferson, a Goochland native and principal author of the Declaration of Independence.
It’s a wonderful way to celebrate local history while sparking a love of reading.
We love seeing our community partners invest in our students’ curiosity. It’s partnerships like these that make GCPS such a special place to learn and grow! ❤️🏫
