Beginning Monday, April 8, families may start the online registration process for kindergarten at goochlandschools.org/student-registration/. Completion of the registration process includes a mandatory in-person screening at your rising kindergartener’s school on Thursday, April 18, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Please contact your child’s school directly to schedule your screening appointment. WHEN CAN CHILDREN BEGIN KINDERGARTEN?
• according to Virginia law, a child must be five years old on or before September 30
of the upcoming school year to enroll in kindergarten
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO ENROLL MY CHILD IN
KINDERGARTEN?
• a certified birth certificate for the child*
• a completed School Entrance Health Form (obtain a form at your school or visit
https://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/health_medical/school_entrance_form/school_entrance_form.pdf
• proof of residency (see full flyer for details)
* Families unable to provide a certified birth certificate may provide an official affidavit that affirms the child’s age, along with an explanation of their inability to present the birth certificate.
