School Board

General Information

The School Board consists of five members each elected by our community to a four-year term. The School Board while responsible for the operation and progress of the school system, delegates authority for the division’s daily operation to the School Superintendent. The Goochland County School Board works as a team with a common goal, to ensure students and staff achieve personal excellence through a shared vision and mission, guided by Core Values, a strong Strategic Plan, and Equity Goals, all developed through collaboration of parents, staff, and community representatives.

The School Board meets in regular sessions at 6:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month at the Goochland County Administration Building on the corner of Sandy Hook and River Road West, (1800 Sandy Hook Road, Room 250) in Goochland.

The School Board Clerk is Diane Bennett (dbennett@glnd.k12.va.us), (804) 556-5601.

Core Values

We believe our core values will help us direct everything we do, from budget planning, professional development, and learning in every one of our schools. Our values are a moral compass for decision making, and they define the character of our students, our employees, and our expectations for our community.

  • Excellence

  • Creativity

  • Courage

  • Honor

  • Optimism

In September 2014, the board began recognizing employees and students who were helping to make a positive impact on others within our division and our community. Called the ECCHO Award, this recognition celebrates those who have truly made one or more of our core values an important part of their lives as lifelong learners. Nominations may be made via our ECCHO Awards Page.
