Mental Health Support Services

Goochland County Public Schools is committed to providing mental health and wellness support services at all of our schools. The GCPS Mental Health Team works collaboratively to address the social-emotional needs of our students. Our team consists of school counselors, school psychologists, a mental health counselor, and a school social worker.

Mental Health Advisory Committee

The GCPS Mental Health Advisory Committee is comprised of parents, teachers, counselors, students, and other community members. They strive to:

  • End stigma around mental health within the GCPS school community.

  • Promote awareness and increase understanding of the importance of mental health and wellness through the provision of educational resources and events.

  • Advocate for additional mental health resources, programs, staffing, etc. to meet the growing need for mental health support.

  • Identify and provide school- and community-based mental health resources to students, staff, and families.

  • Offer guidance and support to the school community on how to access appropriate resources for mental health-related concerns.
